Stephanie Chan is the co-founder of Foam Armory EVA Foam scaillemaille. She joined me recently for an interview to talk all things Foam Armory—including their smashingly successful kickstarter campaign. Now, I have been to a lot of comic conventions over the years, and the amount of time, dedication, and passion that goes into each cosplay outfit never ceases to amaze me. Especially, the cosplayers who have gone full-on metal in their wearable works. I applaud everyone who spends that much time and money on their craft. Because cosplayers bring such a fun element to every convention they attend, their joy is what brings the rest of us joy when we see them.

In our chat, Chan talks about the beauty of the Foam Armory product. It’s lightweight, accessible to just about any budget, is breathable, easy to assemble, and bonus: It also has zero issues making it through security at airports, thanks to its lack of metal. The kickstarter that Chan and fellow co-founder, Ben Eadie, launched has absolutely crushed their modest goal of $5,000, and currently sits at almost $44,000!!

The biggest, and best surprise to their campaign, is the fact that Mythbuster himself, Adam Savage, featured it on his channel: Tested, and gave top marks across the board. Plus, comic artist, Travis Mercer (DC Comics), jumps into the mix with his Scaillemaille Dragoon Warrior. It’s so awesome! As for funds raised to date, well, the number is huge, so I asked Chan about what this type of support will mean for the company moving forward. We talk about all of this, and more in our interview. Hit play, and watch it below. Enjoy!
