Conor McCreery - Writer, The Last Witch (published by BOOM! Box)

Recently, I sat down (virtually, of course) and interviewed comic book writer, Conor McCreery about his latest series: THE LAST WITCH. The first issue hit local comic shops the first week of January. It’s Published by BOOM! Box, a division of Boom Entertainment Inc., illustrated by V.V. Glass, colored by Natalia Nesteranko and lettered by Eisner award-winning, Jim Campbell. McCreery is known for his fantastic work on the Adventuretime/Regulr Show series (via BOOM! Studios), as well as his highly popular creator-owned series: Kill Shakespeare (with co-creator Anthony del Col).

The Last Witch is a story set in medieval Ireland, about 12-year-old Saoirse (pronounced Ser-sha) and a bet she makes with her only friend. They set out to see who will be the first to find Cailleach’s tower. However, they are doing this on an ominous day - Imbolc day. A day when venturing into the woods is forbidden because the witch (Cailleach) is about, and if she finds children, it is said that she eats them. That is all I’ll say about that. You should read it for yourself because it’s really good, and really fun. It’s a story anyone will enjoy, but it’s especially great to read with your kid(s).

McCreery gives us insight into the making of this book, how it came to be, and the process it took to break up the story into single issues—when the intent was to have it be released as a graphic novel. He goes on to talk about working on comics, and day-to-day life during this pandemic.

Without further adieu, here’s my interview with the super talented and always funny, Conor McCreery. Select “Listen in bowser” on the Soundcloud link. Depending on which device you’re using to access this interview, you may also click/select the SoundCloud Play button. Enjoy!
