Sweeney Boo is a Canadian, Montreal-based, comic artist and writer. We chatted at the inaugural Fan Expo San Francisco about her “covid baby,” a 240-page creator-owned, young adult (YA) graphic novel called OVER MY DEAD BODY. It’s about a witches academy and it’s a murder mystery. Boo says this about her book:

“I’ve always wanted to have my own take on witches because I am obsessed with them. It takes place around Halloween…I had a very good time writing and drawing it.”

Boo goes on to talk about her process with character design, and how the pages from how the pages from her pitch turned out a bit different in the end, and the fact she loves having a more colourful book with darker tones story wise.

And, to go back a moment, Boo and I start off ther interview by talking about the fun time she had on the sketch duel panel with two fellow, and well-known Montreal comic artists, Yanick Paquette and Andy Belanger. There’s even more to listen to in this interview, so hit play on the audio interview below, and enjoy.
