First off: The opening of my interview with writer Sam Maggs at the inaugural Fan Expo San Francisco, was unfortunately cut off. (SORRY, Sam!)

My super-fun conversation with Sam Maggs starts after she just finished talking to a fan at her table. I am so proud to have gotten to know Maggs over the years via numerous conventions in Canada, and of course, during our first meeting at an American show. Her breadth of work is absolutely stellar, and quite frankly, I do not know when she sleeps. She’s just THAT busy. From gaming to novels and to comics, it’s remarkable—the fact she writes so many different titles, in so many tones, and for a such a wide audience among all three of those concurrently. When I asked her how she does it and how she keeps it fresh, Maggs had this to say:

“…I’m writing stuff concurrently…I find that working across mediums is what keeps it fresh. It doesn’t just feel like doing a bunch of writing all the time because writing a game feels very different to me than writing for a novel and feels very different than writing for a comic, so it always feels like I’m doing something different.”

The one thing I love about chatting and seeing Maggs at a show is just how enthusiastic she is with the fans. And, after I finally was able to spit out an actual question about it, Maggs gives great insight on just how fans fuel her on and keep her going. I have simply rambled on way too long now, so please hit play on the audio interview below and enjoy this fun interview with the always super, fantastic, friendly, and welcoming writer, Sam Maggs!
